The Team
Michael R. Berry is a senior executive and system architect operating at the intersection of regulation, capital markets, and next-generation financial infrastructure. His career spans over three decades across global energy trading, financial services, and institutional compliance — culminating in the design of the 2678 ecosystem.
From Compliance Operator to System Architect
Mr. Berry’s professional trajectory is defined by a deliberate progression: regulator → market participant → system architect. He began his career at the National Futures Association, where he developed a foundational understanding of regulatory structure, audit processes, and market oversight. He then transitioned into the commercial sector at ABN AMRO, where he managed capital on behalf of Korean institutional investors, gaining direct exposure to international markets and cross-border capital flows.
At BP plc, he served as Head of Compliance for North American Integrated Supply and Trading, where he built enterprise-wide compliance infrastructure across physical and financial markets, constructed and operated a compliance function under the auspices of a Corporate Monitor and the United States Department of Justice, and operated under active regulatory oversight from the CFTC and FERC. He later served as Director of Compliance at PetroChina International (America) Inc., establishing foundational AML and anti-corruption frameworks within a global trading environment.
